And it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog All for me beer and tobacco For I spent all me tin On the lassies drinking gin Far across the western ocean I must wander Where are me boots, me noggin', noggin' boots They're gone for beer and tobacco For the heels they are worn out And the toes are kicked about And the soles are looking out for better weather And it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog All for me beer and tobacco For I spent all me tin On the lassies drinking gin Far across the western ocean I must wander Where is me shirt, me noggin', noggin' shirt It's all gone for beer and tobacco For the collar is all worn And the sleeves they are all torn And the tail is looking out for better weather And it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog All for me beer and tobacco For I spent all me tin On the lassies drinking gin Far across the western ocean I must wander Where is me bed, me noggin’, noggin’ bed Gone for the beer and tobacco The springs they got the twirls So I sold it to the girls And the sheets are looking out for better weather And it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog All for me beer and tobacco For I spent all me tin On the lassies drinking gin Far across the western ocean I must wander Where is me wife, me noggin’, noggin’ wife She’s gone for the beer and tobacco The door she walked out For me love of the stout And I’m sure she’s looking out for better weather And it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog All for me beer and tobacco For I spent all me tin On the lassies drinking gin Far across the western ocean I must wander I'm sick in the head and I haven't been to bed Since I came ashore with me plunder I’ve seen centipedes and snakes And I’m full of pains and aches And I’ll have to make a path for way out yonder And it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog All for me beer and tobacco For I spent all me tin On the lassies drinking gin Far across the western ocean I must wander And it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog All for me beer and tobacco For I spent all me tin On the lassies drinking gin Far across the western ocean I must wander

There once was a ship that put to sea And the name of that ship was the Billy o' Tea The winds blew hard, her bow dipped down Blow, me bully boys, blow Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguing' is done We'll take our leave and go She had not been two weeks from shore When down on her a right whale bore The captain called all hands and swore He'd take that whale in tow Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguing' is done We'll take our leave and go Before the boat had hit the water The whale's tail came up and caught her All hands to the side, harpooned and fought her When she dived down below Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguing' is done We'll take our leave and go No line was cut, no whale was freed An' the captain's mind was not on greed But he belonged to the Whaleman's creed She took that ship in tow Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguing' is done We'll take our leave and go For forty days or even more The line went slack then tight once more All boats were lost, there were only four And still that whale did go Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguing' is done We'll take our leave and go As far as I've heard, the fight's still on The line's not cut, and the whale's not gone The Wellerman makes his regular call To encourage the captain, crew and all Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguing' is done We'll take our leave and go Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguing' is done We'll take our leave and go

Hey up and away We’re leaving today from Marquette Bay Throw the ore in the hull, by the sound of the gull, with a pain in my skull I will head right out into the lake With a formal “standby!” from the L.S. & I We said our goodbyes with the land growing small in our wake. Hey up and away We’re leaving today from Marquette bay We all nearly died, out the storm we did ride, but our captain was tried and he knew deep inside what to do No reaching the dock, the ship tied to a rock for 3 nights were were stopped, but we lived to head off for the Soo. Hey up and away We’re leaving today from Marquette bay The ore line was run in 1931, under Michigan Sun, we would work till the whistle would blow We’d take on the town, paint it red, drink it down, then we’d stumble back round to our ship and we’d settle below. We would sleep off the ale, rising early to sail far away from the rail, say goodbye to Marquette bay

O say was you ever in Rio Grande? (Oh, you Rio) It's there that the river runs down golden sand (And we're bound to the Rio Grande) And away, love, away (Oh, you Rio) Sing fare ye well my pretty young girls (And we're bound to the Rio Grande) Oh, New York town is no place for me (Oh, you Rio) I'll pack up my bag and we’ll head out to sea (And we're bound to the Rio Grande) And away, love, away (Oh, you Rio) Sing fare ye well my pretty young girls (And we're bound to the Rio Grande) So it's pack up your mule and we’ll get under way (Oh, you Rio) The girls we are leaving can take half our pay (And we're bound to the Rio Grande) And away, love, away (Oh, you Rio) Sing fare ye well my pretty young girls (And we're bound to the Rio Grande) We'll sell our salt cod for molasses and rum (Oh, you Rio) And get home again 'fore Thanksgiving has come (And we're bound to the Rio Grande) And away, love, away (Oh, you Rio) Sing fare ye well my pretty young girls (And we're bound to the Rio Grande) Sing goodbye to Nellie and goodbye to Sue (Oh, you Rio) And you who are listening, it’s goodbye to you (And we're bound to the Rio Grande) And away, love, away (Oh, you Rio) Sing fare ye well my pretty young girls (And we're bound to the Rio Grande) And away, love, away (Oh, you Rio) Sing fare ye well my pretty young girls (And we're bound to the Rio Grande)

Methinks I see a host of craft spreading their sails alee As down the Humber they do glide all bound for the Northern Sea Methinks I see on each small craft, a crew with hearts so brave Going out to earn their daily bread upon the restless wave And it's three score and ten Boys and men were lost from Grimsby town From Yarmouth down to Scarborough Many hundreds more were drowned Our herring craft and trawlers Our fishing smacks as well They long to fight the bitter night And battle with the swell Methinks I see them yet again as they leave this land behind Casting their nets into the sea, those herring shoals to find Methinks I see them yet again as they save onboard all right With their sails close reefed and their decks moist cleaned And their side lights burning bright And it's three score and ten Boys and men were lost from Grimsby town From Yarmouth down to Scarborough Many hundreds more were drowned Our herring craft and trawlers Our fishing smacks as well They long to fight the bitter night And battle with the swell October's night was such a sight 'twas never seen before There were mast and yards and broken spars all washed upon the shore There were many a heart of sorrow, there was many a heart so brave There were many a hearty lad that found their watery grave
